Last year, to celebrate my birthday, I decided to do something I’ve always wanted to try—spending a whole week thoroughly “visiting dermatology clinics” in Seoul. It wasn’t just a casual tour; I brought a consultation list, took photos of each clinic’s environment, and had in-depth conversations with every doctor. I visited 10 dermatology clinics in total and explored various treatments such as Thermage, ultrasound, hyaluronic acid, and microneedling. In the end, I chose one of them to proceed with the treatment. This article is my detailed account of this experience.
Let me state the conclusion first: the price difference can be as much as three times, but what ultimately influenced my decision was never the cost—it was the phrase, “Your skin condition is not suitable for this treatment.”

1. Why visit 10 dermatology clinics? A personal journey of trial and error
It might seem a bit ridiculous when I think about it. I originally planned to visit only two or three clinics to compare them, but the first one disappointed me greatly. The consultant spent 20 minutes selling packages without even looking at my face properly. The second clinic was slightly better, but the doctor sent me away after just 5 minutes of examination.
That’s how my “comparison list” grew longer and longer. In the end, to find the clinic that I felt truly trustworthy enough to trust my skin to, I visited a total of 10 clinics.

2. A complete list of the 10 dermatology clinics I visited in Seoul
Here are the 10 dermatology clinics I investigated, located in key cosmetic areas such as Gangnam, Hongdae, and Myeongdong:
| # | clinic name | region | main services |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | MADE U Dermatology | Jiangnan | hyaluronic acid injections, skin quality management |
| 2 | glassy Dermatology | Jiangnan | Laser treatments, whitening therapies |
| 3 | mellow Dermatology | Hongda | Hydrating repair, sensitive skin care |
| 4 | SKIN LAB | Myeongdong | Pore management, exfoliation |
| 5 | The Lift Jizhou Jiangnan Branch | Jiangnan | Ultrasonic Knife, Sound Wave Lifting |
| 6 | AVEC Dermatology | Cheongtan-dong | Botox, Hyaluronic Acid |
| 7 | Affiliated to BIO Plastic Surgery | Xincun | Comprehensive Medical Aesthetics |
| 8 | NOON Dermatology | Ewha Womans University | Spot removal, whitening |
| 9 | LUMOS Dermatology | Jiangnan | Anti-aging, firming |
| 10 | PURE SKIN | Shaded Walkways | Natural treatments, hypoallergenic formulas |
III. My evaluation criteria: 5 dimensions
After visiting 10 dermatologists, I identified 5 key aspects for evaluating a dermatology clinic:
- Doctor’s presence: From consultation to treatment, is the doctor always present?
- Consultation quality: Did they truly analyze my skin or just focused on selling products?
- Transparency about equipment: Were the types of equipment and dosages clearly explained?
- Post-treatment guidance: Were detailed instructions and follow-up care provided?
- Price transparency: Are the fees clearly stated, or are you only told after asking?

IV. Dermatology Warnings: Those Disappointing “Assembly Line” Clinics
Case 1: The Consultant Is the Key Player
Upon entering, the consultant greeted me warmly and spent a full 20 minutes talking highly of each treatment option. But when I asked, “What does the doctor think about my skin type?” she replied, “The doctor will check it later.” Three minutes later, the doctor came in, confirmed the treatment, and left.
This isn’t a consultation; it’s just a process for placing an order.
Case 2: The Assistant Does It All
At a certain clinic, the entire ultrasound treatment process—from disinfection to application to post-treatment care—was handled by an assistant. The doctor only appeared at the beginning to sign something. When I asked the assistant, “What is the dosage?” she said, “The standard dosage.”
Whose standard is this? Is my skin the same as anyone else’s?

V. Three Surprising Dermatology Clinics: Those That Really “Look at Your Skin”
✅ MADE U Dermatology: The Experts in Sensitive Skin Care
The director personally consulted me and used a skin analysis device to examine my skin area by area. He said, “Your T-zone has oily skin, while your cheeks are dry and sensitive. These two areas require different treatments.” Those words almost made me cry—I had never received such thorough attention in Taiwan before.
In the end, I opted for targeted hyaluronic acid injections, with the formula adjusted according to my different skin areas. Seven days after the treatment, I felt a noticeable difference in my entire face.
✅ Glassy Dermatology: The Most Transparent Clinic
As soon as I entered, I saw a clear price list posted on the wall. The consultant explained, “I will only provide information; the doctor will decide what treatment is best for you.” After a 15-minute consultation, the doctor gave me a detailed skin analysis report and suggested that I try another treatment in two months since it might not be effective right now.
A clinic that isn’t eager to make you spend money—just for that reason, I’m willing to trust them.
✅ Mellow Dermatology: Perfect for First-Time Visitors with Sensitive Skin
This clinic focuses on “gentle, slow-skincare treatments,” and even their equipment is designed to be mild. The doctor specifically mentioned, “Many people come to Korea in a hurry to try multiple treatments, but this can actually harm sensitive skin.” He also provided me with a chart explaining which treatments can be done on the same day and which should be spaced apart.

Comprehensive Review of 5 Dermatology Clinics

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| made for you | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 🏆 Highly recommended |
| glassy | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 🏆 Highly recommended |
| mellow | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ✅ Recommended |

VII. Three key signs to choose the right clinic
- If the doctor’s consultation takes more than 10 minutes: A consultation that lasts less than 5 minutes is basically just going through the motions.
- If they proactively tell you that a certain treatment isn’t suitable for you: A good doctor won’t claim that every treatment option is “right for you”.
- If there are follow-up arrangements after the procedure: A good clinic will ask you when to come back for a check-up, rather than just saying goodbye after you pay.
VIII. Four red flags you must be alert to
- 🚩 The consultant is more aggressive than the doctor and keeps promoting packages throughout the process
- 🚩 They are unable to specify the exact model of equipment used or the dosage
- 🚩 When asked about the price, they hesitated and said you needed to “place an order” first before getting the details.
- 🚩 After the procedure, no further instructions were given; they just told you to “go back to the hotel and rest”.

9. Use BeautsGO to book a dermatology appointment in advance, and you’ll save yourself a lot of stress.
Out of the 10 clinics I visited this time, several were booked through BeautsGO, and the experience was much better than going directly without an appointment. On the BeautsGO platform, there are over 849 partner clinics and 1,457 Korean specialists. You can compare reviews, check doctors’ qualifications, and make appointments online. Upon arrival, you can just go straight to your appointment, saving a lot of waiting time and communication effort.
More importantly, clinics booked through BeautsGO have generally gone through the platform’s verification process; those “standard, high-volume” clinics are usually not included.
In summary: Find a doctor who is truly willing to “examine your skin carefully”.
After visiting 10 dermatology clinics, I no longer think that “all Korean dermatologists are great” – but I’m also more certain that in Korea, there are indeed doctors who take the time to understand your skin needs.
The difference doesn’t lie in nationality; it lies in whether you find the right doctor for you.
I finally trusted you with my face. Thank you for making me believe that cosmetic surgery doesn’t have to be a standardized process.
