我當時約了早上十點的面診，到了之後前台的中文翻譯姐姐直接過來接我，帶我填完基本資料就進了等候區。等候區不大但設計得很溫馨，有免費咖啡和茶，還有幾本整形手術的介紹手冊可以翻。等候過程中我偷偷觀察了一下其他來面診的人，大部分都是亞洲面孔，聽到有日文和泰文的對話，看來外國客人比例不低。
- Consultation time: My consultation lasted approximately 40–45 minutes, which is definitely much longer than the 10–15-minute quick consultations at ordinary clinics in Taiwan. The director used a 3D simulator to show me the expected results and explained the surgical plan in detail. 去韓國做手術最怕什麼？我覺得不是價格，是醫生靠不靠譜。畢竟語言不通、隔著一個海，萬一出問題真的很麻煩。所以我出發前把德蔓特院長的背景查了一遍。
德蔓特的代表院長裴元培（배원배）是高麗大學醫學院出身，擁有韓國整形外科專門醫師資格，曾任梨花女子大學醫學院兼任教授——這個學歷背景在韓國整形界算是相當扎實的 🎓
- Solid academic background: Graduated from the School of Medicine at Korea University → Became a specialist in plastic surgery at Korea University Hospital → Served as an adjunct professor at Ewha Womans University. This doctor did not attend some so-called “unreputable universities”; every step of her career was taken within a formal academic system.
- Rich international experience: He has furthered his studies at the Emory University Hospital in the United States and has also served as the director of several plastic surgery hospitals in cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing in China. This means that he has a deep understanding of the facial bone structure of Asians and will not apply Western standards rigidly to Asian patients.
- Member of professional associations: Official member of over ten professional associations, including the Korean Association of Plastic Surgery, the Korean Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Korean Association of Craniofacial Plastic Surgery. The entry requirements for these associations are quite stringent, and the fact that one has been able to join so many of them simultaneously demonstrates that their academic capabilities are recognized by the industry.

💉 What are the popular treatments at Demant? What treatment have I undergone?

- First-time rhinoplasty (silicone + autologous cartilage): 94.5 million to 96.5 million Korean won. The use of silicone implants combined with ear cartilage or nasal septum cartilage to shape the tip of the nose is the most popular option among patients. A major feature of Demant’s approach is the use of high-definition endoscopes for precise dissection, which results in minimal blood loss and a shorter recovery period compared to traditional techniques.
- Full Autologous rib cartilage rhinoplasty: 97 million to 910 million Korean won. This procedure is suitable for those who are concerned about the use of implants or those whose nasal structure requires comprehensive reconstruction. Since only autologous cartilage is used, the risk of rejection is extremely low, and the results are natural and long-lasting.
- Highly complex Revision rhinoplasty: Costing over 99 million to 915 million Korean won. This is precisely the area in which Demant has gained industry recognition for its expertise. Anyone who has undergone nose surgery and is dissatisfied with the results knows that the difficulty of a second operation is several times greater than that of the first one, and there are very few clinics capable of taking on such cases.
我自己最終選擇的是初次隆鼻方案，用的是矽膠假體加自體耳軟骨。為什麼沒選全肋軟骨？老實說，主要是預算考量（笑），但院長評估後也認為我的鼻部基礎用這個方案就足夠了，不需要額外取肋骨增加創傷。這點讓我覺得蠻誠懇的，沒有硬推最貴的方案。
🔍 I will explain the entire process from consultation to surgery in detail for you.
很多人問我「去韓國做手術到底是什麼流程？」，我把自己從預約到出院的完整經歷分享出來，讓你心裡有個底。
- Pre-surgery consultation (about 40-50 minutes): First, three sets of photos were taken from the front, side, and diagonal angles. Then, the director used a 3D simulation system to show me the expected results. This step is truly crucial! Because you get to see exactly what the final outcome will look like, and any adjustments can be made immediately if you’re not satisfied. I specifically emphasized that I didn’t want the results to be too dramatic, so the director made three adjustments before we were both satisfied with the result.
- Preoperative examinations (about 1 hour): blood tests, Breast X-rays, and electrocardiograms – similar to those in Taiwan. All these procedures are carried out at the clinic itself, without the need to visit another hospital. The costs are included in the surgery fee and no additional charges are applicable.
- On the day of the surgery: Arrive at the clinic on an empty stomach in the morning. After changing into surgical attire, an intravenous drip is administered first, followed by a discussion with the anesthesiologist regarding the anesthesia plan (I chose intravenous sedation combined with local anesthesia). Once in the operating room, I only vaguely remember the anesthesiologist talking to me for a few moments; when I woke up, the surgery had already been completed, and I didn’t feel anything throughout the entire process.
- Postoperative observation: After resting for about two hours in the recovery room next to the operating room, the nurses would regularly check my blood pressure and examine the wound. My nose was immobilized with a splint, and a soft rubber protective cover was placed over it. On the same day, I was able to walk back to my hotel on my own (it took only ten minutes to walk there from where I was staying).
- Postoperative follow-up visits: The first follow-up visit is the next day, during which some of the bandages will be removed; stitches are removed on the fifth day, and the final follow-up visit takes place on the seventh day to assess the recovery progress. All three follow-up visits are free of charge.
整個流程下來，從面診到最後一次回診大概是一週。我個人建議至少在韓國待五到七天，預留足夠的恢復時間。別像有些人那樣做完美容就趕飛機回來，對恢復不太好。

- Is it necessary to know Korean? Not at all. - How soon after the procedure can one start wearing makeup or glasses? Generally speaking, makeup can be applied 7 to 10 days after the surgery, once the stitches have been removed (avoiding the nose area). It is recommended to wait at least three weeks before wearing glasses to prevent pressure on the nose bridge. Personally, I started wearing light makeup on the tenth day after the surgery.
- Who is it suitable for? If this is your first time undergoing rhinoplasty, or if you are dissatisfied with the results of a previous procedure and wish to have it revised, Demante is an excellent option. Especially in the field of Revision rhinoplasty, there are very few clinics that offer this service, and Demante has a reputation in this area that is recognized by the industry.
- What do I need to prepare before going? A passport and a visa (at present, South Korea exempts most countries from the visa requirement). Also, stop taking vitamin E and anticoagulant drugs such as aspirin one week before the procedure. It is recommended to wear clothing that is easy to put on and take off (clothes with buttons are better than those with zippers), as your hands will be less flexible after the surgery.
